Expansion in Latin America · June 18, 2008

“This was an excellent meeting,” said Andrea, a physician in Rio de Janeiro. “God’s Spirit was here in this place,” she said in Portuguese. “We need to know these things, and get ready for Jesus to come,” said another church member.

During the month of February 2008, which is summer time in most of Latin America, Pastor Mayer visited Argentina and Brazil to help develop the work of Keep the Faith in Latin America. “The potential to influence many people to get ready for the coming crisis and the second coming of Jesus is enormous,” says Pastor Mayer. “The trouble is, in most places, they are not getting the kinds of messages that will help them realize the urgency to prepare.”

The camp meeting in Argentina (February 2 and 3) was attended by about 120 people. “These people don’t have a good way of keep up with current events,” said Diego Silva, Pastor Mayer’s associate speaker for Latin America. The meeting was held in a school building. The people were thrilled with the fellowship and spiritual food.

In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the meetings were held in a football club, an open air building with a metal roof. When a rare violent rain storm brought hail and torrents of rain, the meeting had to stop for half an hour, because the noise was too powerful.

In December of 2007, while speaking at camp meetings in Brazil, two brothers approached pastor Mayer about expanding the work greatly in Brazil. They proposed that our little CD preachers, once translated to Portuguese, be sent all over the nation to the homes of God’s people and anyone that wants them. They also proposed to do it on a donation basis. The progress of this work is going forward now as they are finishing up the artwork for the mailers, establishing the accounts and a local address for Keep The Faith Brasil, and other necessary details.

While in Argentina, Pastor Mayer met with several brothers who want to organize the same kind of ministry in all of Spanish speaking Latin America. This is a much more challenging effort, but they are serious about arranging things so that it can be done.

Currently Keep the Faith Ministry is translating many of Pastor Mayer’s sermons into Portuguese and Spanish, and some of them are produced on CD. These are bulk distributed all over Latin America, but now it is time to start working on getting them directly into the hands and homes of the people wherever possible. The plan is to continue with bulk distribution, but as the individual subscriptions begin to grow around Latin America, the message will expand powerfully as we will be able to educate and encourage the people over time.

In both Brazil and Argentina, Pastor Mayer discussed the unique of this special Latin project with the leading brethren, and apparently good solutions are available to the problems of production, shipping and donation processing. It is quite different than in the U.S. but it appears that a similar program of free subscriptions can be established.

Please pray for the work in Latin America. It is difficult because of opposition, and the many nations. But God will find a way to reach the people through our little CD preachers.

  1. The opposition will just make you stronger. I’m from Brazil and I’m tired of seeing the Jesuits leading our church away. We need to know the truth. I’ll be praying for this work to be done in Portuguese and Spanish. God will help us.
