Michael Jackson “Leaves the Stage…” Forever · July 08, 2009
On Thursday, June 25, Michael Jackson passed away. The music industry icon who “helped shape a generation,” wrote USA Today, was only 50 years old. Jackson was immensely popular. When he passed away he was about to start a series of 50 concerts in London all of which had been sold out. Jackson’s music career started in 1969 with the ‘Jackson 5’ when Michael was 11 years old.
But Jackson’s life was “troubled” and “complicated” said John Landis, director of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. His notorious life was mixed up with drugs, immorality, controversy, and extreme worldly behavior, particularly on stage. Thriller itself explored darker themes and the supernatural and became the best selling music album of all time with sales in excess of 60 million copies. Obviously Michael Jackson’s 40 year career influenced more than one generation with music inspired by the prince of darkness. He is referred to as the King of Pop.
Many people idolized and worshipped Michael Jackson. He is the “biggest phenomenon in the world,” said Thomas Motolla, former worldwide chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment.
“Michael Jackson [is] my music god,” wrote hip hop star Wyclef Jean.
“From the beginning of my career,” said Celine Dion, “he was my idol in show business.”
“He was a gift to the world, he is a bright light…” said Will.i.am, another music industry rapper and hip hop star.
“When Satan has undermined faith in the Bible, he directs men to other sources for light and power. Thus he insinuates himself. Those who turn from the plain teaching of Scripture and the convicting power of God’s Holy Spirit are inviting the control of demons.” Desire of Ages, page 258.
It’s true; Michael Jackson was a “bright light.” But what was the source of that light? Could it have been Lucifer that angel of light that fell from heaven that illuminated Jackson’s music talent? It was Lucifer, remember, that was the choir master of heaven. Jackson’s music was anything but godly music.
Satan’s agents are often the most popular people in the world. They are revered as idols and even as gods. Today people cheer, shout and whistle as their gods perform on stage. They pay large amounts of money to see them in concert. But what are they seeking? Does it help them get ready for heaven?
Satan has unnumbered distractions to keep the soul from seeking after God. Some of them are music icons like Michael Jackson. They have everything anyone could want, but their hearts cry out for something spiritual. They turn to spiritualism and the supernatural, hoping to find answers to nagging questions, and they lead millions to do the same thing.
“He made me believe in magic,” wrote Sean Combs (stage name: Diddy) on Twitter.
In the last days, God’s messenger wrote; “The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes, will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing…” In the final crisis, how will Michael Jackson’s music help God’s people succeed in their battle with Satan?
The world is enthralled with Michael’s music. The pop star Madonna said, “The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever.” Madonna is a false prophet. Jackson’s music may live on for a while… until the second coming perhaps. But it will not live on forever. There is music far more beautiful, far more glorious and far more moving and powerful that will soon take its place. And the glory and adoration will not be showered on a mere human being. Instead it will lift the redeemed saint’s hearts to glorify Christ Himself.

I think it’s also important not to place judgement on Michael Jackson. He’s been out of the spotlight for a while with a soon return to the stage. Perhaps he did surrender to the Lord and before he had a chance to lose sight of God in those London tours, God sealed him for the Kingdom. Perhaps MJ repented of his past sins though people still seem to worship him. Micheal Jackson also told his mom a couple weeks before his death that he wants his children raised for the Lord. I agree with this briefing however, we as Adventists should not place ourselves as judge over anybody’s life. We don’t know what went on behind closed doors. God bless you, Andrea

This is a great comment on M.J. Yes, the world’s king has died and so many people are going berserk. No wonder if they place their hope in this world’s life.
My idol and king has also died, but with one tiny little difference, HE rose again. This makes all the sense in my life. If any other god dies, well, bad luck. My God, died and lives, that’s the good news!
Greetings to you in the name of our risen Lord, King and God, Jesus Christ!
