Lower Saxony Wonders After · July 13, 2010

On June 28, 2010 “Representatives of the Holy See and the German state of Lower Saxony exchanged instruments of ratification regarding modifications of a 1965 concordat,” said Zenit.

The Berlin meeting was between Archbishop Jean-Claude Périsset, apostolic nuncio to Germany, and Christian Wulff, who was at that time minister-president of Lower Saxony, though on July 2 he assumed office as president of Germany.

“The representatives met in the apostolic nunciature and exchanged the instruments of ratification of an agreement signed on April 6 to regulate the legal situation of some Catholic schools run the by Dioceses of Hildesheim, Osnabruck and Munich,” and modified a 1965 agreement.

“It provided for certain modifications in schools and an increase in the number of students in some diocesan schools.”
